On Wednesday, March 2, 2010, Medford Leas residents and staff gathered for a birthday party held throughout the Community Building to celebrate the date that Gladys Fleming, the first Medford Leas resident, moved to the community. Music, balloons, English dancing, and a chorus of Happy Birthday filled out the afternoon's events. |

Dr. Jennifer Khelil is the new Medical Director of Medford Leas, effective March 1, 2010, In this role, Dr. Khelil is responsible for the overall health and wellness of residents of Medford Leas. She will work closely with our on-site team of health and wellness professionals to provide primary care for residents and to coordinate resident’s care with the best specialists and treatment programs available. As a result of this “patient partnership” approach, residents enjoy close and participatory relationships with our health and wellness team.

MEDFORD, N.J. — Katherine Aliminosa, 93, shattered her lower leg while getting snacks for her nieces. Susan Arnold, 87, broke her hip hanging a photograph. In mid-July, in a nursing unit of a retirement community here, the two women were at the start of a recovery process that both hoped would return them to their previous lives.

TAK MORIUCHI CITED FOR PERSISTENCE, VISION
MEDFORD — The Medford Leas retirement community honored its sole surviving founder, Tak Moriuchi, yesterday with a series of speakers, the debut of the film documentary “Medford Leas — A Dream Fulfilled” and a reception.
The Medford Leas auditorium was standing room only, as speakers highlighted their individual experiences with Moriuchi and talked about the legacy he has left in the Medford Leas community.

This summer, Medford Leas will distribute over $114,000 in awards to its employees who are pursuing educational endeavor through two funds: The Nursing Educational Assistance Fund, and The General Educational Assistance Fund. |
